Heat & Cooling Meters

Heat and cooling meters (BTU meters) measure the thermal energy delivered by a heating or chilled-water circuit by combining flow measurement with a matched pair of temperature sensors. Our Engelmann range covers everything from compact ultrasonic apartment meters to DN300 flanged flow sensors with separate calculators, all MID approved and available with M-Bus or wireless M-Bus for automatic meter reading and fair cost allocation.

Key Features

  • Compact single-jet, multi-jet and ultrasonic heat meters from qp 0.6 to qp 15

  • Combined meters: SensoStar C calculators with FlowStar U ultrasonic or Woltmann flow sensors up to DN300

  • Heat, cooling and combined heat/cooling programming

  • M-Bus, wireless M-Bus (OMS), LoRaWAN and Modbus communication options

  • Pt500 temperature sensor pairs, heat cost allocators and AMR gateways to complete the system

Applications
Apartment and sectional-title heating cost allocation, chilled-water and HVAC sub-metering in commercial buildings, district heating and cooling connections, plant-room energy monitoring and tenant billing.

How to Choose
Start with the pipe size and nominal flow (qp) of the circuit: up to DN50 a compact meter is the simplest choice, above that pair a calculator with a flanged flow sensor. Choose heat, cooling or combined programming to match the medium, and pick the communication option (M-Bus, wireless M-Bus or LoRaWAN) that suits how you will read the meters. Add a matched Pt500 sensor pair for combined meters and a gateway if you want fully automatic remote reading.
